Before You Sail & Embarkation

Guest and Travel Guidelines

Before finalizing travel plans, here is what you need to know to explore your favorite destinations safely and without limits.

Things change so details continue to be updated regularly. It is recommended to check out official websites and apps developed by government agencies and tourism ministries.

COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements

We want to make sailing with Princess as easy, hassle-free and safe as possible, which is why they carefully follow guidelines from governmental, health and regulatory agencies and organizations throughout the world.

With updated guidelines, Princess is now able to accept more guests regardless of their vaccination status. Vaccinated guests no longer have to test on most voyages. Unvaccinated guests must upload proof of a negative self-test into the MedallionClass app taken within three days of embarkation for these voyages.

Guests ages 5 and up sailing on Enhanced Guidelines voyages and other specific itineraries need to take a supervised test within three days of embarkation. See the Travel Guidelines for Unvaccinated Guests page for more information.

These guidelines apply to itineraries from all departure ports except where government regulations and protocols may vary, like Canada, Greece and Australia.

For current and new guidelines starting September 6, visit the Vaccination & Testing Requirements page. It will help you plan your next cruise!

COVID-19 Testing Requirements

Please note that there is no testing required for vaccinated guests sailing on most voyages and they simply must upload proof of vaccination while completing the OceanReady steps, when sailing on one of Princess' Enhanced Guidelines itineraries.

Unvaccinated guests, or anyone who does not provide proof of vaccination, simply must upload a negative self-test within three days of sailing to the MedallionClass app before boarding.

These guidelines apply to itineraries from all departure ports except where government regulations and protocols may vary, like Canada, Greece and Australia or one of the Enhanced Guidelines itineraries.

Testing requirements vary by region and vaccination status.

Health Screenings

Complete your online health questionnaire in the MedallionClass app within 24 hours of your sailing. In the terminal, you'll have an enhanced pre-embarkation health screening to confirm your responses, validate documents and handle any other protocols as needed.

The MedallionClass Experience

Now available on all ships, Princess MedallionClass lets you decide who you interact with and how. Enjoy TrulyTouchless experiences and personalized service that makes everything easier, including physical distancing.

Online Check-In

The MedallionClass app makes completing important OceanReady steps and cruise check-in a breeze. These include:

To keep everything running smoothly, Princess asks that you arrive at the terminal at your assigned time. It's the one situation where getting there early doesn't help!

On Board

Mask Recommendation

Masks are recommended, but not required, though exceptions may apply in certain venues and itineraries. Princess will clearly designate any situation where you have to wear a mask through signage and onboard communications.

We always recommend you wash or replace your mask daily and choose a good quality mask.

Onboard Health Practices

We encourage everyone to use the hand-washing sinks and hand sanitizer dispensers at venue entrances and in high-traffic areas throughout the ship. Princess also asks you to follow health information about the ways to stay healthy on board and when ashore through daily programming, entertainment systems, announcements, in-stateroom literature and the app. As part of onboard protocols, they regularly clean and sanitize all public areas and staterooms thoroughly.

Ventilation

Ships feature enhanced air filtration with upgraded HVAC systems which are designed to replace air within public spaces and staterooms every five to six minutes. HEPA filters are used in key areas, such as medical centers and dedicated isolation rooms, as a further safeguard.

Youth and Teen Programs

Our youth and teen programs will continue to operate with enhanced health protocols with high-touch surfaces, supplies and equipment sanitized frequently.

Shore Visits & Excursions

While some ports allow independent tours and exploration, it is highly recommended you choose a Princess shore excursion as these follow the same health and safety protocols that they have on board. You will be required to follow the health protocols for every port visited and that includes local government guidance for mask wearing, physical distancing, testing/health screenings, etc. Protocols may be subject to change without notice. They'll share the status of local guidelines with you prior to disembarkation at each destination.

Medical Care

Princess Cruises' highly trained medical staff includes doctors and nurses capable of caring for a broad range of medical conditions. Medical centers are equipped with COVID testing and treatment capabilities. Princess requires all?team members to wear Princess-approved face masks.
